This beautiful mountain is located 25km from the city of La Paz, it is the busiest in the season, its normal route (east facing) does not offer great technical difficulty, even so it is necessary to have basic experience in mountaineering and good acclimatization, recommended for beginner mountaineers who want to feel the altitude above 6,000m.
For more experienced mountaineers we suggest the "French route" that takes you to the south summit 5,960m. If the conditions are good, you can make the journey to the northern summit. We recommend being well acclimatized and having average experience in mountaineering to attempt this route.
We leave at 09:30 from your hotel, we will drive for 2 hours until we reach the base camp 4,730 m. where we can use one of the shelters, we will have lunch and then we will organize our equipment for a 45-minute walk to the "old glacier" where we will learn or remember the basic mountaineering techniques (use of crampons, use of ice axes, traversing the glacier, ice climbing) then we will return to the base camp to rest/Night in shelter
After an abundant breakfast, we will organize our equipment and begin a walk that lasts 1 to 2 hours to the high camp. Today we will have the help of a porter who will carry our heavy equipment, we will use a shelter to settle in, we will spend the afternoon resting and hydrating, Mental preparation will be necessary for the next day/night at the shelter.
We will wake up at midnight and have a coffee and some cookies, we will organize our equipment, we will begin a rock walk until we reach the glacier, where we will use the crampons and the rope, the walk to the summit lasts 5 to 6 hours very slowly, in the In the middle we have the "little Wall" with an inclination of 45 degrees then we continue the hike to the summit, if we take the normal route the use of walking sticks is recommended, carrying the ice ax only for the small technical parts, we usually reach the summit at dawn After enjoying the beautiful views of the Royal Range and the altiplano, and lake Titicaca, we will descend along the same route to the high camp, we will rest there for 1 hour, then our porter will be ready to help us carry almost all the equipment back to base camp. There our transportation will be ready to take us back to the city of La Paz.
